Saturn Sky
This little drop-top two seater in the roadster family got me more compliments than any car I’ve driven in awhile. Everyone wanted to know what it was and when I told them the price and the Saturn name they were duly impressed. I had the turbo version, which really offered the spunk I needed to get going on the road, but there is also the slower one as well with 177 horsepower. Since it’s a Saturn you can expect the no haggle policy and walk away with a vehicle that offers a lot for the money. The first thing you will notice even before getting into the car is just how cool it looks. The front is streamlined perfection with headlights just in the right place and vents on the hood that screams look at me. Just a note, this is not a car to take on a trip as there is no room behind the seats or in the tiny trunk, it will be hard to even pack your groceries in there. The only other complaint is the drink holder – one on the passenger side that comes out of the transmission area and another with two holders that opens in between the driver and passenger seat - are useless
What to Know: For an easy ride go with the 177 horsepower model and for more speed up that to the turbo 260 hp version. The 260 horsepower version offers 260 lb-ft of torque and the 177 model has 166 lb-ft of torque. There’s a 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine on the slower version and a 2.0 liter turbo otherwise. Putting the top down is about as easy as it gets too. You do have to get of the car to do it, but it folds into a rear-hinged trunk, you shut the trunk lid and you’re done.
Miles Per Gallon: Affordable and good gas mileage, the Saturn Sky has a lot to brag about with 21 mpg in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.
Price Tag: The base price starts at $23,115 with a three year/36,000 warranty, however I drove a style with a $31,414 price tag – it will definitely make you smile.
